Your Goals are Waiting!

You’ve set goals, new year’s resolutions, and even found and accountability partner – well done! But you’re still in the same place you were 8 months ago.

What is really stopping you?

Do you mind if I answer? It’s you. You are stopping you. You can write things down, affirm everything, even tell somebody to make sure you stop eating biscuits, but nobody will ever know if you are not putting in the work in private. Lies exist, and that’s what you’ve been using to get by. ‘How’s the diet going?’ ‘Absolutely fine, I’ve cut out all carbs!’ – The empty pack of hobnobs says otherwise.

Back to the matter at hand (I am not here to diet shame; I’ve had more than a few failures). What are the most recent goals you set for yourself? There’s a fair chance you didn’t write them down, so get a pen and paper and do that.

Then again, you could be the person I once was – I did not set goals and just let things be. This was until I realised that I could have so much more if I was aware of what I wanted and what I needed to do to get there. Sometimes goals can seem unattainable because of lack of qualifications and skills – but these can be obtained and are sometimes not even a requirement!

Here’s a few tips on goal setting:

  1. WRITE THEM DOWN
  2. Set three short term goals (to achieve in three to six months)
  3. Set three mid term goals (to achieve within the next six months to a year)
  4. Set three long term goals (to achieve within the next one to five years)
  5. Be VERY precise

I want to make more money’

‘I will do a coding course to maximise my earning potential’

  • Remind yourself of your goals daily – this will keep you on track
  • Set a new goal every time you’ve achieved one
  • DON’T GIVE UP

At the end of the day, it is you who has control over your actions and where your life will take you.

We will get into the money later, but first, set those goals!

Your goals are waiting.
